ReGen Cream | My Cheap Skincare Miracle |Chrisseytina Beauty

ReGen Cream | | My Cheap Skincare Miracle | | Chrisseytina Beauty

If you've followed my blog for a while, or have ever had the pleasure of listening to me moan about my skin, you'll know its quite temperamental. My skin is combination. I have oily area's, dry area's and plenty of blemishes. My main problem, is that when hormonal outbreaks strike (around a certain time of the month...ladies, you know what I mean) I get spotty on my chin, between my eyes and some times on my cheeks. Unlike those of you that are lucky with your skin, after a spotty outburst, I'm usually left with red blemishes that take months (sometimes up to half a year) to disappear, or fade. I've had this problem since the age of 18, so perfectly clear skin, for me, is a long time gone.

More recently, I've looked into ways I could diminish the red scaring left behind after a spot has broken out. Mainly put off by expensive products that I wasn't to sure would work miracles and the hugely vast array that all promised a clear complexion, I never took the plunge. I guess you could say that I was slightly overwhelmed, and just wanted someone to say "Use this, it works 110%". Anything for an easy life, eh? ;) That was until I strolled through "Home Bargains", and spotted this cream. Costing me no more than £4 and with the promise of reducing blemishes and scaring, it was worth a shot.

This is actually my second pot, as I used my first pot up, I loved it that much. I use the cream mornings and nights when my skin is particularly blemished, but only at night when it's slightly more under control and this reduces the fade time by dramatic amounts. The consistency is very creamy, although not thick. I think the reason this moisturiser is so amazing, is that it contains similar ingredients to an oil like Bio oil, but rather than slathering an oil over your face morning and night, it's much more convenient to apply a moisturising cream. It works best when really massaged into the skin, so I take around 2 minutes just to make sure its really rubbed in. It takes around 5 minutes to completely sink in, and then I'm ready to go with my makeup.

Although it doesn't prevent any blemishes from occurring, it definitely improves the appearance of my skin after they have left there mark and reduces fading time. The best bit though, is that it's under £4. I know the packaging isn't all that feminine and it definitely isn't one to sit pretty on my dressing table, but it does the job, and that's all I'm bothered about.

I brought mine from Home Bargains but you can also find it on Ebay.

Do you have a similar problem to me? Are there any other blemish-alternative products you can recommend?

Benefit Cosmetic- Eye Bright | | Review

Benefit Cosmetic's- Eye Bright | | Review | | Chrisseytina Beauty

Benefit's Eye Bright is definitely one of my favourite products and a 'must have' in my makeup bag. Benefit Eye Bright is a chunky, pink pencil and is a product I feel is over looked, but this product has so many amazing uses. It's really creamy so glides on the skin at ease and doesn't tug at it.

Benefit describes this product as "An instant eye brightener" and a "coffee break in a stick". I couldn't agree more, I love using this to pep up tired looking eyes.
Benefit recommend applying this pencil on the inner and outer corners of the eye to look instantly wide awake and for best results to apply this after you have applied all other makeup.

My favourite way to use Eye Bright is to apply it to my upper and lower waterline as well as the inner corners, and to my brow bone.

This pencil is quite pricey, however I've had this for 9 months and use it pretty much everyday, so you get your moneys worth.

Eye Bright- £15.50

Benefit Cosmetics CORALista | | Review | | Chrisseytina Beauty

Benefit Cosmetics CORALista | | Review | | Chrisseytina Beauty

So guys, I needed a new blush, so I decided to go for Benefit's CORALista, I have heard great things about this blush and have been really excited to try it out.
This Blush is the coral of all coral blushes that's for sure.

Don't you just love Benefit's cute but completely quirky packaging? I know I do!
Normally I'm not a huge fan of cardboard packaging, when it comes to cosmetics, as I find them flimsy and not to ideal, but credit where credit is due Benefit's re-enforced packaging has yet to steer me wrong.
I have a good few benefit powder blushes and not one has smashed or chipped and I'm not exactly the most careful of people. The only negative I have encountered this far is the little box does become scruffy looking as the pretty print fades and wears off over time. Oh I should quickly mention that each Benefit Blush does come with a small, long brush. I personally don't use this brush because I find it hard to blend in the blush with this brush and usually just leaves a straight line of blush on my face, which no-one wants. However, some people love this brush, so whatever floats your boat.

Benefit describes CORALista as a coral pink and I totally agree. CORALista is a mid toned coral that has the perfect balance of pink and orange leanings. To add to that CORALista has a yellow undertone (neutral) with a slight golden shimmer finish and in the terms of colour it should suit all skin tones and be flattering on most. In my opinion Benefits CORALista is pretty close to MAC's style blush but less shimmer based. Basically if like myself and the majority of your makeup is coral based you need to add this to your collection. It's the perfect spring/summer blush.

As with most Benefit Blushes this has a firm texture that is easily picked up on any face brush and blends into the skin at ease. However I should point out that CORALista is subject to product fall out which could be due to the packaging or the slightly drier texture of the blush.
As with most Benefit Blushes CORALista is scented and this sure doesn't disappoint, as it has a sweet fruity scent. CORALista has a slight shimmer finish but due to the shimmer being fine it isn't problematic to those who have problems with enlarged pores or fine lines, but adds a warm, healthy glow to the apples of the cheeks.
In terms of wear it lasts around 7 hours on my dry skin before it wears off, which is pretty impressive, Right?

Have you tried Benefit's CORALista? Let me know what you think :)

A Day In Brighton

A Day in Brighton

Charlie and I went on a coach trip down to Brighton on Sunday 11th May 2014.  We got on the coach at 9.30am and got to Brighton at 11:15. When we arrived it literally felt like I was on holiday. Breathing in the fresh sea air was delightful.
Once we arrived we headed down town to check out all the shops. I fell in love with 'The Lanes' and have lots of photos to share with you guys.
After we were done having a look round the shops, we headed to sea life and saw some amazing sea creatures, including a massive turtle. I named he Fred, my new best mate.
I caught him on camera and got some incredible shots.
After we headed down the Brighton Pier as it was nearly time to get the coach home, the waves were choppy and my hair was so knotty after walking down the Pier because of the wind, I was freezing by the end. However, despite how cold it was, me and charlie decided to get a Moo Moo's Shake, If you live in London or know about it, it's a bit like shake away, I got the cookies and cream shake, it was so yummy I want another one just thinking about it.
We had a magical day exploring Brighton and seeing what it had to offer, we decided before we headed back to the coach to have a last look on the beach and then it was time to head home. One of my highlights of the day, was walking down 'The Lanes' and eating Nando's on stalls.

What are you guys up to this weekend?

Benefit Cosmetics- "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer | | Review

Benefit Cosmetics- "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer | | Review

I was originally introduced to Benefits "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer when I purchased their "Goodtime Gals. I wanted to try some new products, but I didn't want to risk losing money on something I wasn't sure I was going to love. Thats why i tried the sampler bottle of this first ;)

This pink tinted cream goes on easily and I instantly saw a change in my skin. I have dry skin - Normal skin, but the primer evened out the discolouration I have and did moisturise it slightly, however before I applied this I did put a moisturiser on my face. My skin felt silky smooth and with a little pressed powder, I felt confident to face the day. If you have never used a primer before then this would be a good place to start, as after one use, you'd have wished you'd started using primers a long time ago, you will be craving "THAT GAL".

If you're interested in buying this product and fall in love with it like I have, I'd recommend you buying the sample/travel sizes first, just to make sure you like it as everyone has different skin types.

Full Size- £22.50

What primers do you use?

Red Lips By Formula | | Chrisseytina Beauty

Red Lips By Formula | | Chrisseytina Beauty

Today I thought I would talk you through all the red lip formulas available. It's not the easiest look to wear, so if you're not a huge fan of red lipstick there are plenty of other formulas to choose from that all give different look.

The Lipstick
We all know how this one goes; satin, matte, moisturising or sheer. It's the classic way of wearing a red lip, its classic and easy.

The Lip Lacquer
Applies like a liquid, sets like a satin. Lip lacquers look bold on the lips and are really long lasting, so I'd recommend them for a red lip lover.  The doe-foot applicator makes precision application easy and the Rimmel Apocalips  or Hourglass Opaque Rouge will both do the trick and come in great shades.

The Lip Satin
Lip satins tend to be more sheer and give a just-bittern, fresh effect to the lips. They work well for a daytime look, during the summer or for any younger girls. The YSL Glossy Satins and L'Oreal Paris Glam Shine Satin Splash both work equally well to cover the lips in a subtle, long lasting colour satin.

The Lip Butter
If you are already a big lip butter/balm fan then this is the easiest transition into becoming a red lip wearer. They're moisturising, comfortable but give a nice wash of colour to the lips. My favourites include the Revlon and Korres Lip Butters.

The Matte Lip Crayon
The matte lip crayon is bold like the lacquers, so if you want something that wows then this is the way to go! They're easy to apply, just like using a crayon and the matte/velvet formula helps it to last on the lips. My favs are the NARS Velvet Lip Crayons and Lord & Berry  20100 lipstick pencils, which are slightly glossier but work just the same.

The Lip Liner
You can wear a lip liner all over your lips to give your lips intense colour and a long lasting finish.

The Liquid Balm
It's something that is quite hard to find, but this one from Almay has come in so handy for when I want to wear a red tint with a slightly glossy finish but nothing to bold. I use this instead of li gloss, but a red gloss will also come in handy for layering over lipstick.

The Chubby Stick
The chubby stick is the perfect red lip for your handbag. They're moisturising, easy to use and you can choose from a range of different formulas. Clinique offers there Chubby Intense for a bold colour finish and their Original Chubby for a moisturising balm finish. Revlon and Bourjois also offer chubby lip balms in quite a wide range of shades.

O.P.I Nail Envy | | Chrisseytina Beauty

O.P.I Nail Envy | | Chrisseytina Beauty

Recently my nails have been breaking quite easily, they have also been quite flaky, every time I paint my nails they would chip or break after a couple of days... It was gross!!
No matter what top coat I would use, it wouldn't change things.
So I made it my mission to find a solution and as usual, I took to youtube and searched for related videos. All reviews were mainly pointing toward O.P.I Nail Envy!
I've already seen Viviannadoesmakeup talk about it so I was convinced and went and brought it. This little bottle set me back a whopping £18.65...I really can't believe it spent that :L

Nail Envy promises to strengthen your nails and prevent flaking, so I had to give it a go!
It says to apply two coats to the nails and then add one layer every other day for a week. I have to admit I cheated... I just can't have my nails unpainted for that long!
I applied two coats to my bare nails and then painted them normally and then applied a new layer on top of the nail polish, the next day. I've only used this for a week so far, but I can already tell it's going to be a miracle worker. My nail polish is lasting so much longer and they have stopped flaking and breaking completely, they also seem to grow a lot quicker.

I love it and although it was ridiculously expensive I'm happy I spent it because it works.
As long as it does the job it promises, I'm happy!

Have you ever tried this before? Do you're nails ever get flaky or need strengthening?

NARS Primers | | Chrisseytina Beauty

NARS Primers | | Chrisseytina Beauty

Hi I'm Christina and I'm a primerholic. It's a step in my routine that i will never miss out. I think most people think primers are only for those who have oily skin but thats not the case.

The first reason why I wear primer is to keep my makeup on all day. Although I don't have oily skin, in fact its quite dry, my base makeup seems to vanish by the end of the day. My theory is that my skin is so dehydrated it soaks in all the moisture leaving me with bare, patchy makeup by the end of the day. The second reason is to protect my skin. As you're all aware, I'm a Londoner which means tubes, buses, pollution, cold weather ect so I also use primer to create a barrier between my makeup and my skincare.

For someone who loves primers I think I'm pretty strange as I've only used one for a few years. I've stuck to my laura mercier primer and re-purchased it many times- Why change something thats not broken eh? But I'm a beauty blogger so trying new products is what I do. I was excited to try out these NARS primers, in fact i was genuinely intrigued if anything lived up to my all time favourite.

There are two NARS primers available, the Multi Protect and the Pore Refine. Lets start with the Pore Refining one as I think this will suit most skin types. Its oil free which is great and it applies like a dream. It comes out like a white creamy liquid and sinks into the skin very easily, leaving a soft and even base. This one doesn't have SPF so if thats something you look for in a primer then this one isn't for you, although you should be using a moisturiser with SPF in, so it isn't a big deal.

The multi protect primer has an SPF of 30 and a PA+++ which is really good, obviously wearing an SPF is really important. This one is quite different to other primers I've tried.  It's like a cream texture and and feels pretty similar to a moisturiser. This would be great for dry skin types. It takes a bit longer to dry because of the thicker texture but once it has it leave the skin feeling soft and hydrated.

To be honest, I think both work equally well at keeping makeup on all day. I can imagine the Pore Refining one being more popular as its more like a traditional primer, quick to use and will keep shine at bay. But if you're looking for extra moisture and feel like primers can dry you out, then the Multi Protect is perfect! It's really just preference. But if you're looking for a new primer I recommend you try these out, as just like more NARS products, they didn't disappoint.

Smokey Eye Companions

Smokey Eye Companions | | Chrisseytina Beauty

Ready for tonight? If you're planning on sporting a smokey eye as its more your thing rather than a red lip, then keep reading this because I've gathered together all the companions you'll need to create the ultimate smokey eye look.

Brushes
i'd say three brushes would be ideal. A MAC 217 shape to apply and blend the shadow, a giant fluffy brush like the Bobbi Brown Blending Brush to blend out the edges and something small for under the eye like this Kevyn Aucoin one.

Eyelash Curlers
Whether your lashes are naturally curly or as straight as a giraffes neck, eyelash curlers are a must for a smokey eye! Using lash curlers will open up your eyes and will help the curl last longer throughout the night. My all-time favourite ones are from Shu Uemura.

Eye-Shadow Primer
Ive never really come across an eyeshadow primer that doesn't work, so use whichever one you have to hand. using any type of eye primer or cream eyeshadow will give your shadow something to girl to and will prevent any fall-down or disappearing throughout the evening.

Cotton Wool
I find cotton wool pads are really helpful when you want to prevent any sark eyeshadows from falling onto your cheeks when applying. I fold them in half and then hold them underneath my eye area whilst I blend. Cotton buds are also handy for clearing up any mistakes, especially when it comes to liquid liner!

So gather you're smokey eye kit together and you're ready for the night! Have fun on you're Night out impressing people with you're smokey eyes!!
